Greg Lewis, the owner and founder of Crawlspace Makeovers, started in his late father’s (Ken Lewis) janitorial business back in 1975 during high school. He worked for him during the summer seasons during college, and then went on to work for him

full time after graduating. After graduating college (UTC), Greg moved on to work a few years for the Boy Scouts of America.
Greg and his father bought the Sears Carpet Cleaning franchise servicing the Nashville area in 1987, and successfully operated it until 1999 when they sold the company. It was while operating the carpet cleaning franchise, which utilized gasoline-powered super sucker trucks, that they began to learn about and service the extraction of water in water-damaged homes and businesses. This led them to other related services in the industry such as mold remediation, and then on into managing indoor air quality by adding on an air duct cleaning division. Since most air ducts in the Nashville and surrounding areas are in the crawlspace, which is usually a mess, a crawlspace renovation division was created.
Greg admits there is probably medication to keep him focused on one thing, but he has an insatiable desire to learn and become the best. In 1999 when the Sears Carpet Cleaning franchise was sold, Greg started his own business, known as Carpet and Air Duct Cleaning by Greg Lewis. Using his home as an office, Greg was the owner/operator/chief cook and bottle washer for several years.
Along the way, Greg began to study how he could improve his service company and settled upon implementing the principles in one of his favorite books The E-Myth by Michael Gerber. As a result in 2003 TIER, Inc., represented by combining four separate yet unique divisions were created:
SteamDry Carpet Cleaning
DryRite
HVAClean
Crawlspace Makeovers
Building on this concept, while preparing both the company and himself for the challenge, Greg was able to finally hire his first employee in 2006. Since then, TIER, Inc. has doubled sales every year and today the company is located in a 4,500 square foot office/warehouse, operating 5 trucks, and at this time (2008) employs 8 full time and several part-time employees along with sub-contractors when needed.
Our company slogan, “Experience The Next Level” is an equivocation. We intend to create a “next level” experience for our clients, our employees, and the company! And while we are strong believers in training, we also believe hiring people with experience can help take everyone to the next level as well.
