Becky Grace Irwing (she/her), a trauma-informed BABCP Accredited CBT therapist. I have completed my PgDip (Masters Level) in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy from King's College London which means I am qualified to give you CBT & EMDR for OCD, PTSD, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Phobias & Depression. I have additional Eating Disorders training and experience in CBT-E, T, MANTRA & CBT-AR. I am a former Mental Health Nurse and qualified Yoga Teacher. I also have qualifications in personal training, group fitness training and coaching & counselling skills. I previously worked in the NHS since 2010 until 2024. I have worked throughout NHS clinical services including CAMHS, adult and eating disorder services and higher education settings in mental health and disability services.
My therapy approach: I work mainly with adults 18+. My specialism is eating disorders, eating issues and associated trauma. I love to bring warmth and a collaborative, non-judgemental space, with some occasional, appropriate humour. I am aware of power dynamics in relationships so try to offer a relatable, informal approach. You are the expert of your experience. I operate from a social justice and trauma-informed viewpoint and although I offer CBT as my main speciality, I combine cognitive and somatic approaches. I use third wave CBT, ACT & EMDR.
For eating disorders, I have training in CBT-E, CBT-T, MANTRA and CBT-AR. I have worked in NHS eating disorders services with the most severe eating issues including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and ARFID. I find a strong overlap between eating issues/Autism and OCD AND gender identity and sexuality. I'm highly trained in CBT with ERP for OCD. I'm trained in CBT adapted for Autism/ADHD/Neurodiversity
Although I'm aware of diagnoses and diagnostic labels, I prefer to find out what has happened to you and how you are affected, empowering you to make changes. I have diagnosed ADHD and self diagnosed with Autism, I spent a lot of time supporting neurodivergent students in university settings. I consider myself an LGBTQIA+ ally and the social justice element informs every part of my work and seeing how you have personally been affected by abuse, neglect or oppression. I engage in regular supervision and personal therapy to provide ethical services to my clients.
