People who just received their Permanent Resident Visa will receive their PR cards in the mail at their Canadian addresses after reaching Canada.
Documents Required for Canada's PR Card
It is necessary to present your prior PR card if you want to renew your card or make changes to some of the information on the card.
Your passport, the identity document issued by the IRCC, or a passport from your native country would be sufficient for identification purposes. The travel document or any other applicable document provided by your home country might also suffice in some cases.
You must also include recent photographs of yourself for the application.
Application Process
Visit the official website and download the forms once you have acquired all the necessary paperwork. Before continuing, you must confirm which forms apply to your profile. Get all the necessary forms, fill them out, and submit your application together with the necessary paperwork. Biometric data may be required from candidates in specific circumstances, but it is usually not.
Application Fee for PR Card
The standard application fee for the PR Card is 50 CAD, however if you are required to submit your biometrics, you must pay an additional fee and make a specific appointment for the same. The cost of biometrics is 85 CAD for a single person and 170 CAD for a family.
You must mail the application to the IRCC office after paying the application fee and completing all the necessary paperwork.
When they get your application, they will email you an acknowledgement, but if the application isn't complete, it will be returned to you at your address.
