Creative differences and competing egos between bassist Roger Waters and guitarist David Gilmour ultimately fractured Pink Floyd. As Waters exerted more control, Gilmour felt marginalized, causing growing resentment. Unable to reconcile, Waters... left in 1985 and unsuccessfully sued his former bandmates. Though they continued, Waters' departure ended Pink Floyd's era-defining chemistry.
