Richard Sr. went on to have a distinguished career. As an experienced trial lawyer, he was the original founder of the Utah Trial Lawyers Association (now known as Utah Association for Justice). For twenty-five years he was also a member of the governing board of the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America - the largest organization of trial lawyers in the United States).
