Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) occurs when the meibomian glands in the eyelids become blocked or dysfunctional, reducing oil secretion into the tear film. This leads to rapid evaporation of tears, causing dry, irritated eyes, redness, and... discomfort. MGD is a common cause of dry eye syndrome and can be managed with warm compresses, eyelid hygiene, medications.
